Seven people robbed Chow Chow gold shop

Six men involved in the robbery of the “Chou Chow” gold shop’s house were apprehended in Chan Mya Tha Si Township, Mandalay Region, with over 10 pounds of gold and approximately 1,000,000 kyats in cash as evidence.

In 2024, on September 10 at 8:00 a.m.8:00 a.m., in Mandalay Region, Chan Mya Tha Si Township, Myo Thit (1) Ward; U Shwe Win (57) (b) U Wan Chou, the owner of the “Chou Chou” gold shop located at the corner of 71 Street and 101 (B) Street, was loading gold articles and cash into his car to go to the three “Chou Chou” gold shops in Mandalay. At that moment, seven men (still under investigation) arrived with guns in a 3J/8313 ADVAN-type vehicle. Reports indicate they fled the scene with over 10 pounds of gold and 1,000,000,000 kyats in cash. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits in Chan Mya Tha Si Township. A case has been opened at No. (11) Regional Police Station (PA) 220/2024 under Section 395 of the Penal Code.

To identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident above, the security forces formed a special investigation team to gather evidence and collect information from the area. On September 14 at 9:30 p.m.9:30 p.m., in Patheingyi Township, Khin Maung Soe (40 years old), son of U Kyaw Thaung from Khone Tan Ward, was apprehended in front of Shwe Pyi Tha Hotel on 30th Myo Pat Road. His testimony implicated him in the robbery and revealed the identities of seven other individuals involved: Naing Min Wai (b) Kala (b) Kyaw Gyi, Kyaw Soe Min Tun (b) Nyi Nyi Soe, Zin Ko Ko Kyaw (b) Karen Gyi, Aung Zaw Tun (b) A Nge Kaung, Hlaing (b) TawWet (b) Wetkalay, and Chan Tha (b) Shoon Htet Maung.

According to the testimony of the defendant, Khin Maung Soe, at 11:30 p.m. that day, in Katha Township, Thanpurakone village, the son of U Soe Win, Naing Min Wai (also known as Kala or Kyaw Gyi, 27 years old), the son of U Hla Htun from Kyar O village in Pa Taung Township, Kyaw Soe Min Tun (also known as Nyi Nyi Soe, 46 years old), and the son of U Kyaw Win from Kyauk Phyu Kone village in Meikhtila Township, Zin Ko Ko Kyaw (also known as Karen Gyi, 29 years old), were arrested again at the GYM Hotel in Kisananamahi Ward.

According to the testimony of the arrested defendants, the vehicle used in the robbery and some of the gold items taken during the incident were discovered in Pathein Gyi Township. It was reported that the defendant, Aung Zaw Tun (b) Angekaung from Meking Kone Village, was kept in the house. On September 14, at 12:30 p.m., the accused, Aung Zaw Tun (b) Angekaung (21), son of U Htun Lin, was arrested along with the identified gold items stored in a fireproof box and the vehicle used in committing the crime, which was located in the yard of the house.

According to further investigation, at 2:00 a.m. on September 15, a Glock-type pistol used in the crime was recovered from the defendant Khin Maung Soe’s home. Additionally, a Kimber Custom pistol, 14 bullets, and gold items were seized. At 2:30 p.m., Hlaing Htet Aung, the 25-year-old son of U Kyaw Thet Aung in Pathein Gyi Township, Mekin Kone village, was arrested again at the Pyi Gyi Takhoon Township, Takhon Tai Troll Gate.

Khin Maung Soe, who committed the robbery, along with the six defendants, was apprehended. The security forces collaborated with responsible individuals who opposed wrongdoing, successfully identifying and arresting them along with the evidence and taking appropriate action by the law. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the remaining fugitive, the son of U Khin Mg, Shoon Htet Mg (b) Chan Tha (26).
