Priority is given to importing and distribution of Semi-Knocked-Down cars (SKD) and the import permission for Complete-Knocked-Down cars is not allowed, Union Minster for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo told the MT news agency.
Due to the growing need of US dollar in Myanmar and situation of fragile economy, the import permission of vehicles and spare parts from foreign countries has been suspended temporarily. Currently, relaxations on some issues are being carried out.
The government allows the import permission for SKD cars but still suspends the others, Union Minister said.
The pre-orders for SKD cars are being received and the SKD cars will be arrived in February 2023. Toyota Company is selling the two models of double cab car in the domestic market.
