According to the Myanmar Sugar and Cane Product Manufacturers Association (MSCA), two sugar factories will be expanded in the 2024-2025 fiscal year to ensure domestic sugar self-sufficiency.

It is reported that there are some difficulties in trying to expand operations as the locations of these sugar factories are close to the current conflict areas.

The domestic sugar price was only 4,700 kyats for 3.6 lb until the first week of last August, and rose to 5,000 kyats for 3.6 lb in early September, according to the list released by the BayintNaung Commodity Exchange.
