On September 4, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov met with the Chairman of the Myanmar Anti-Corruption Commission, Sitt Aye, on the sidelines of the IX Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
During the meeting, Krasnov mentioned that, thanks to strong business relations that have been maintained for 76 years, contacts in both countries are strengthening in a variety of areas, including law enforcement.
In this regard, he stated that the Russian Prosecutor’s Office is ready to share with Myanmar the practice of confiscating corrupt assets, including cryptocurrency. In addition, Myanmar specialists were invited to participate in training courses planned to be held at the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office from October 8 to 10.
Following the meeting, the parties signed an interdepartmental cooperation program for the implementation of joint activities.
“It [the document] will become the basis for the practical implementation of the previously signed memorandum of understanding, will contribute to strengthening interdepartmental contacts at the expert level, and, of course, the exchange of best practices,” Krasnov said.
