Domestically, the prices of mung beans, green beans and Pigeon pea in the foreign market have increased from 35 percent to more than 50 percent within a year

In the domestic and foreign market, the prices of mung bean, green bean and Pigeon pea rose by more than 35 percent to more than 50 percent in one year. According to the statistics published by the Buyinnaung Commodity Exchange, the price of mung bean rose to more than 40 lakhs per ton and 50 lakhs per ton of Pigeon pea.

In the last month of August 2023, the main exports abroad were more than 24 and a half hundred thousand kyats per ton of mung beans, about 19 hundred thousand kyats per ton of green beans and 35 hundred thousand kyats per ton of Pigeon pea. Now, in August 2024, the price of mung beans has risen to over 39 lakhs kyats per ton, to over 25 lakhs kyats per ton of green beans, and to over 50 lakhs kyats per ton of Pigeon pea.

In more than three months of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, more than 740,000 tons of pulses were exported, earning more than $640 million in foreign income. According to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the export of mung bean alone accounted for more than 40 percent of the total income of the export of pulses.
