The Northern Alliance, which includes the MNDAA (Kokang), TNLA (Ta’ang), and AA (Arakan) armed groups, launched Operation 1027 (Part 2) with the assistance of subordinate forces. In connection with the Shan-Mann military operation, PDFs attacked Mandalay City this morning with 107 mm short-range rockets. The attack resulted in rockets striking and exploding in at least four locations, with reports of casualties according to local residents.
These attacks occurred around 4 a.m. today, with one rocket hitting the top floor of the Korea Massage Spa building between 80th Street and 11th and 12th Streets, causing the roof to be blown off, as reported by MDY Revolution. A second rocket struck the upper floor of a building east of Police Station No. 4, causing extensive damage to the entire top floor after breaking through the brick wall. A third rocket landed and exploded near the Shwekyin Tollgate, and the last rocket struck a residential house on 89th Street between 8th and 9th Streets in Nyaung Kwe Quarter, injuring a 30-year-old man who was taken to the hospital.
Although the MDY-PDF led the Shan-Mann military operation under the Northern Alliance’s influence, the rockets targeting Mandalay Palace affected the general public.
