The MNDAA and TNLA were declared as terrorist groups, and the Rakhine Armed AA was re-declared as a terrorist group

The Anti-Terrorism Central Committee announced that the Kokan Chinese armed MNDAA group and TNLA group were designated terrorist groups with Order No (1/2024) on 2 September 2024. In addition to the announcement made today, the Arakan Armed AA has also been re-declared a terrorist group.

The Anti-Terrorism Central Committee has declared MNDAA and TNLA terrorist groups with the approval of the State Administration Council in accordance with Anti-Terrorism Law Section 6(c) and Section 72 (b).

In the statement, The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) armed insurgent group and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) armed insurgent group, which is terrorism under the Anti-Terrorism Act, have caused severe losses of public security, lives, and property, critical infrastructure of the public and private sector, state-owned buildings, vehicles, equipment, and materials. Apart from that, violence against the state is being committed within the state. The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) armed insurgent group and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) armed insurgent group, which are committing the above violence, have been declared as terrorist groups, according to the statement.

At the same time, the Anti-Terrorism Central Committee declared the United League of Arakan (ULA)/ Arakan Army (AA) a terrorist group with the approval of the State Administration Council in exercising the Anti-Terrorism Law Section 6(c) and Section 72 (b) with Order No (1/2021) on 23 March 2021. However, the State Administration Council withdrew the declaration as a terrorist group on 11 March 2021 to establish eternal peace by the Council’s five future work plans and nine objectives.

Now, the United League of Arakan (ULA)/Arakan Army(AA) group has committed terrorist acts again and continues to perpetrate violence against the state based in the state. The Anti-Terrorism Central Committee announced that the United League of Arakan (ULA)/ Arakan Army (AA) group has been re-declared as a terrorist group with Order No (1/2024) on 11 March 2021, canceling the withdrawal from the declaration as a terrorist group.
