Authorities have seized drugs worth over 550 million kyats in Mandalay and Yangon

According to the Myanmar Police Force, the operations were conducted under the supervision of the Drug Enforcement Division. In a series of successful operations, authorities seized drugs valued at over 550 million kyats in Mandalay and Yangon Regions.

The combined team arrested Soe Tint at the bus terminal in Ngwetawkyigon, Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region, at approximately 9 am on 27 August. 2.45 kilograms of the psychotropic substance Happy Water was seized and was transported by motorcycle, as well as Sai Kham Ti, who was also found with psychotropic substances, in Aungmyaythazan Township.

Further investigations resulted in the seizure of 4,900 ATS tablets, 380 Happy-5 tablets, 950 grams of ketamine, and a Toyota Fielder in Mangaladon Township, Yangon Region. Kan Htoo Tin Thein was arrested, with the drugs and vehicle found in his possession. Later, at 11:00 am on 28 August, another arrest was made in Yaksawk Township, where a drug trafficker named Ma Wah Wah Lwin, also known as Sandar, was apprehended. The drugs seized during this operation included 470 grams of ICE, 25 grams of ketamine, one kilogram of collagen powder, and 700 Tramadol tablets.

Over 550 million kyats worth of psychotropic substances were seized during the operations on 27 and 28 August. From Shan State, the drugs were being transported to Mandalay and Yangon Regions for distribution in KTVs, clubs, bars, and restaurants. Legal action has been taken against the offenders, and investigations are continuing to identify additional accomplices involved in the drug trafficking operation.
