A 21-year-old female elephant gave birth to her first twin siblings at Wingabow Elephant Camp

It is reported that 21-year-old female elephant Peal Sanda gave birth to 2 elephant twins on Monday, August 28, at the Wingabow elephant camp near Phayagyi, Bago Township.

The female elephant (elder) Peal Sint was born at 3:38 am and the male elephant (younger) Kyaw Peal was born at 3:42 am.

The twin baby elephants are a little short and cannot suckle, so they had to make a stool for them to suckle. The twin elephants cannot get enough milk from the mother’s milk alone, so they have to dilute Dumex step 2 and feed them with bottles of milk. In addition, the mother elephant is also being fed rice as a supplement to ensure that she is fully nourished and has good milk production.

The birth of elephant twins is very rare. If less than 1 percent are born and twins are born, it happens that the mother elephant does not survive. Recently, a 36-year-old female Asian elephant named Jam Jury gave birth to two unusual baby elephants in Thailand on the evening of June 7th. The first male elephant was accepted by the mother elephant, but the second born female elephant was not accepted by the mother elephant and had to be separated as if there was hostility.

However, the twin elephants born at the Wingabow Elephant Camp in Myanmar were not attacked by their mother, and the family of the Wingabow Elephant Camp invited them to come and relax while watching the unique and cute elephant twins.
