28 August 2024

According to archaeologist and writer Bo Shake (Yadanapura), the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Pinya-Inwa Branch) is carrying out restoration work on the ancient palace tower of Inwa in this financial year, which still can be seen as an Amarapura-era work.

Inwa Palace Tower, built in 1822, is the only concrete work remaining from the palace of King Bagyitaw and is an example of 19th-century Myanmar architecture.

“Ancient cultural heritage places are smokeless factories. They must be restored and protected against human destruction to be sustainable,” he said.
