Next October, the population and household censuses will begin, and when the census results are announced to the State, the voting list will be compiled, and the election will continue, said the chairman of SAC at the meeting with Mandalay Region cabinet members and region, and district-level departmental officials.
The chairman of SAC reiterated the commitment to a free and fair election, announcing the proactive measures being taken. The population and household censuses will begin next October, and the results will be used to compile the voting list. Preparations are underway to ensure the accuracy of the ballots, and department heads and officials are urged to work together to guarantee the integrity of the voting process.
During the previous election, there were instances of election fraud related to voter lists, including pre-election fraud. Evidence of such fraud was found, and it was discovered that these irregularities occurred not just in one constituency but across the entire country. Members of the NLD party, including central executive committee members and some chief ministers, were involved in these fraudulent activities. The NLD party led these actions, which included manipulating voter lists and engaging in pre-election fraud, among other tactics, representing a severe offense in the election process.
Addressing the security incidents that have arisen due to political reasons, the chairman of SAC stressed the need for a democratic system that aligns with the country’s needs. The Tatmadaw is working to ensure that the country continues on a stable path of multi-party democracy, in line with the nation’s requirements. He emphasized that political actions should be devoid of tyranny or retaliation, and efforts should be directed towards maintaining peace.
