The Central Bank of Myanmar sold US$ 111 million, 19 million yuan and 79 million baht in 3 weeks

The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) sold US$111 million, 19 million yuan, and 79 million baht over the past three weeks, from 1 August to 21 August, to the edible oil, fuel oil, fertilizer, medical devices and pharmaceutical sectors through online foreign exchange trading platforms.

As announced by the CBM on 15 March, it is working with law enforcement agencies to combat and prosecute currency market manipulators.

Since 5 December 2023, the CBM has allowed authorized dealers (private banks) to trade foreign exchange online according to market rates.
