On the Full Moon Day of Wagaung, a day of loving-kindness, the public gathered at the Shwedagon Pagoda to pay their respects. At the pagoda’s temple squares, monks delivered sermons on morality and guided devotees in observing the Uposatha precepts, creating a serene and peaceful environment.

Additionally, the Shwedagon Pagoda held an ongoing recitation of the Great Metta Sutta. Despite the presence of offerings like flower stupas and golden robes, the crowd was not as large as on the Full Moon Day of Waso. Instead, the environment was calm and tranquil, as devotees observed the precepts and practiced loving-kindness.

The Full Moon Day of Wagaung is also celebrated as a day of loving-kindness in honor of the Buddha’s sermon of the Metta Sutta to 500 monks on this day. Each year, Buddhists observe the Full Moon Day of Wagaung by commemorating it as the Day of Loving-Kindness.
