The Chinese Foreign Minister said that the Chinese government will continue to work towards achieving peace and stability in Myanmar as promised

The Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi, said on August 16th during his visit to Thailand that China will support the transition to democracy in Myanmar and help find a solution through a regional plan to overcome the crisis situation in Myanmar.

Wan Yi said this at a press conference in Thailand after meeting with the leader of the Myanmar government, General Min Aung Hlaing, during his visit to Myanmar before coming to Thailand.

He went on to say, “The Chinese government will continue to achieve peace and stability in Myanmar as per its promise.”

On August 15, Myanmar state media also reported that Mr. Wan Yi said that China would provide technology and support for the population census to be conducted in Myanmar in 2024 and for the elections to be held in 2025.
