Ambassador Ms. Ma Jia as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has arrived in Yangon to start working on August 12, 2024.
When the arrival of the Ambassador Ms. Ma Jia was welcomed at the airport by officials from the Strategic Studies and Training Department, officials and staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and diplomatic officials from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar. Ms. Ma Jia is the 20th Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar.
Ms Ma Jia, was born in November 1967 in Yongji, Shanxi Province, a university graduate. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991 and had served in various capacities at both headquarters and abroad.
Ms. Ma Jia served as Attaché and Third Secretary at the Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 1995 and as Third Secretary and Second Secretary from 1998 to 2001 and as Deputy Director from 2005 to 2010. As overseas assignments, she had served as a Third Secretary at the Chinese Embassy to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar from 1995 to 1998, as a Second Secretary at the Chinese Embassy to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 2001 and at the Chinese Embassy to Japan from 2001 to 2003, as a First Secretary at the Chinese Embassy to the Republic of Singapore from 2003 to 2005, as a Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 2010 to 2013, as a Counsellor and Minister Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy to Malaysia from 2013 to 2018.
In addition, she also served as Deputy Mayor of Sansha City, Hainan Province from 2018 to 2019. Since 2019, she has been serving as a Minister Counsellor and Minister at the Chinese Embassy to the Republic of India, it is reported.
