Under the oversight of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken against illicit trading across the country.
On 17 June, combined teams nabbed two trucks heading to Kyaikmaraw from Phayathonzu, carrying five kinds of goods, including 576 bags of Koh Kae egg peanuts, in Kyaikmaraw Township. They also intercepted a light truck carrying 9,600 bottles of Sponsor soft drink from Thailand on the detour of Kengtung Township, 24,750 kilograms of plastic resin at Myanmar Industrial Port, and 1,315 jerrycans of palm oil from Malaysia (each containing 18 liters). Additionally, they seized four kinds of goods, including 2,332.8 square meters of porcelain tiles from China, from six containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint.
During inspections on 17 and 19 June, the combined teams captured six kinds of medicines, including ten boxes of Ventolin, in Mingala Taungnyunt Township and an unregistered Honda CRV at the Yadanabon Bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township
Therefore, according to the Committee, 14 arrests (estimated value of 234.45 million Kyats) were made on 17 and 19 June.
