A combined team including personnel from Drug Enforcement Division Searched a 6- wheel Canter truck, which was being driven and associated by Thein Ko and Yan Naing Tun from Kyaikhto to Mandalay, near mile post (145/6) on Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway in Thaton Township and Mon State at 4:30pm on 19 October in response to a tip-off.
Following the search, 470 kilos of methamphetamine worth a local value of 11.75 billion kyats were impounded on board. Soe Lin Tun @ Par Kae, an associate pertaining to the trafficking in such methamphetamine from Shan State (North) to Kayin State, was also arrested along with 8 million kyats and a Toyota IPSUM at Sein Pan Village, Pyin Oo Lwin. Other subsequent arrests in the same line were respectively made towards Ko Tsai @ Tsaw Zarni Maung and Myo Aung @ Haw Htin Chan along with a 9mm pistol (GLOCK), 2 magazines thereto, 23 rounds of 9mm bullet, a Toyota Crown at Thingan Nyinaung Village, Myawaddy Township and Ah Wei @ Lauk San and Thet Oo @ Tsaw Thet Oo along with a Toyota Crown at Mae Baung Village, Pa-an Township.
Thus, seven of them were taken into legal action and necessary measures are ongoing to trace follow-up perpetrators.
