An official from Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation warned that young people need to be aware of scams for sending seasonal workers to the Republic of Korea.

There are still attempts to send seasonal workers to the Republic of Korea, but brokers often ask for money saying they will send, he said.

Brokers have deceived many young people and some have even paid them by lending money.

It is estimated that there are more than 560 authorized overseas employment agencies at present, and he advised those who are considering going abroad to do thorough research and to contact these agencies directly.

Myanmar workers are only sent to the Republic of Korea under the EPS system through the Public Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).
