The Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, Shan State (South), including security posts in Moebye, Pekhon, Loikaw, and Demawhso of Kayah State, was raided on 26 January by a large number of PNLO allied with PDF terrorists, which disrupted peace and stability for the residents. Furthermore, they carried out extrajudicial killings of innocent residents, arson attacks on residential houses and government infrastructure, and planted mines. Moreover, the combined terrorist groups of PNLO and PDF conducted destructive actions, continuously blocking the route from Hopong-Banyin-Hsihseng- Loikaw.
After 87 clashes with allied terrorist groups PNLO and PDF, the Tatmadaw launched a Counter-Terrorism Operation beginning on 29 May to regain control over the Hsihseng-Loikaw route (42 miles). Additionally, these terrorist groups significantly disrupted the security and operations of Loikaw airport, prompting security forces to counter their actions on June 14.
Kayah State’s chief minister and Eastern Command’s commander are overseeing the restoration of towns and villages destroyed by terrorists, as well as mine clearance operations to ensure local residents’ safety. At present, Loikaw is returning to normal, and people are starting to live in peace.
