Myanmar opens National Disease Control and Medical Training Centre which was built with China’s assistance, today

National Disease Control and Medical Training Centre (CDC), which was built with the help of the Chinese government to handle public health safety and emergency situations more effectively, was opened today, and the ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the State Administration Council Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe.

Speaking at the event, the SAC Secretary, said that Myanmar CDC Center was implementing and builting in Dekkhina Thiri Township, Naypyidaw, Union Territories, with a cost of about 330 million Chinese Yuan and as established the Myanmar CDC Center, Myanmar’s health status will be on par with the international level.

The project has an area of ​​40,000 square meters and a building area of ​​18,000 square meters. Myanmar CDC and medical training centre that includes biosafety level 1, 2 and 3 laboratories, international standard laboratories, disease prevention and control systems, and a facility that can accommodate about 200 trainees, while another one training hall that can accommodate 200 trainees, one training hall that has capacity for 100 trainees and four halls for 50 trainees each. It is also the biggest project that China has given assistance to Myanmar this year.

The construction of the Myanmar CDC and Medical Training Centre started in 2021 as a symbol of Myanmar-China friendship. It was completed in May 2024 and inaugurated on 13 June, it is reported.
