Malicious media outlets are spreading false information about the detention of two monks as human shields by the security forces in the new Hintha village of Madaya Township in Mandalay Region at 3 pm on June 7.
The actual situation was that PDF terrorists were near the village, trying to collect money and recruit new members by force. As a result, the villagers had to run from this area. The situation was reported by responsible citizens, prompting security forces to provide security for the area.
Near houses, terrorists took cover and began shooting. There was an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists. The monasteries had no monks during that time when terrorists fled.
The relevant security official stated that the monks had temporarily departed from the monasteries and left behind only two elderly individuals (monastery guards).
