Two Sayadaws in Japan received religious titles for 2024 during a ceremony held by the Myanmar Embassy in Japan, the embassy announced.

In the Ayeyawady Hall of the embassy on 25 May, two Sayadaws were awarded religious titles for 2024 by the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, including Most Venerable Dr Shinkai Kori, Chief High Priest of Nenbutsushu Sampozan Muryojuji Temple in Kato, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and Bhaddanta Pannita of the Myanmar Monastery of Moji World Peace Pagoda in Kitakyushu, Japan.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador U Soe Han and his wife, the Military Attache (Army, Navy, Air Force) Maj-Gen Kyaw Tun, the Myanmar Embassy and the Myanmar Military Attache Office staff, Myanmar guests, Buddhist well-wishers in Japan, other Theravada Buddhists from the World Buddhist Supreme Conference, the Vipassana Retreat and the Nenbutsushu Sampozan Muryojuji Temple, as well as Myanmar government scholars studying in Tokyo. After the formal ceremony, the participants offered alms and offerings to Sayadaws.
