On May 27th (yesterday), Central Bank of Myanmar Governor Daw Than Than Swe and Thai banks: Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, and Krung Thai Bank met and discussed.
In that meeting, instead of using illegal hundis, the issues of being able to improve money transfers through legal channels, regarding the remittances of Myanmar workers, issues were discussed so that the banks can facilitate the send of surplus wages of expatriate Myanmar workers in Thailand to their families in the country.
In addition, in the investment section in Myanmar, issues to make more investments from Thailand, on hundi’s actions in education and health issues to be cooperated by Thai banks, it is reported.
