On the square of the Shwedagon Pagoda, donors from Vietnam will lead a ceremony to offer food and gifts to the 5,555 monks in the early morning of June 1.
In offering rice, 100 special monks will be placed in the temple of the ancient Buddha statues, 954 monks will be at the east gate, 1702 monks will be at the west gate, 1312 will be at the south gate and 1487 will be placed at the north gate.
On the morning of June 18th of last year, Vietnamese donors offered 1,000 rice to the monks on Shwedagon Pagoda Square, and this year they have increased to 5,555.
