During a significant operation conducted in Zokhuttha village of Chanfai District, Mizoram State, on the India-Myanmar border, officers of the Assam Rifles (42) Battalion and the Police Department successfully busted a large drug trade. The team seized 3.105 kg of methamphetamine worth Rs 9.315 crore, India-based news reports said yesterday.

The seizure, which took place on May 11, was a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking in the region, as a large amount of drugs were seized, but no arrests were made during the operation.

At the India-Myanmar border, Burmese citizens are often arrested for possession of drugs believed to have been brought into India from Myanmar. 11 people, including 9 from Manor, were arrested for possession of 1,757 kilograms of opium in Langdin district. Last month, 2 men, including a Myanmar national, were arrested for bringing more than 5 kilograms of heroin from Myanmar in Aizawl, Mizoram.
