After the Thingyan season, the prices of basic food products have increased in the country, as well as the prices of some products imported from abroad due to the border clashes, it is known that the basic classes are facing difficulties.
After the Thingyan period, more than 140,000 Kyats per bag of Taungpyan special rice, which is mainly consumed by the grassroots in the country. More than 150,000 kyats per bag of Kyarpyan rice a bag of majamdaw rice is around 160,000 kyats, while coarse rice varieties have increased by around 10,000 kyats per bag within a month, while the price of Pawsan rice has remained stable at the previous high price, reaching over 180,000 kyats per bag depending on the type of Pawsan rice.
In addition, the price of palm oil rose from 5,200 kyats per pound set by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in early April to about 5,500 kyats before Sanguk and reached 5,340 kyats after Thingyan.
The Myanmar -Thai border trade has been suspended due to fighting in the town of Myawadi. Currently, the prices of building materials and electrical goods imported from Thailand are rising. In addition, the price of cement, which can be purchased from both the domestic and foreign markets, has jumped to around 6,000 kyats per bag.
