A fire broke out today (April 21) at around 10:18 a.m. in a house on Khaing Shwewa Road, Ward 59, Dagon Myo (Port) Village, Yangon Region.

According to the inspectors, the fire started in a 10-feet-long and 15-feet-wide tin-roofed, bamboo-floored home that spread to the home through the remains of the stove.

“It was learned that the child at home did not make sure to turn off the stove while drinking the noodle soup. There was only one house nearby, so one of them burned down,” said a resident.

The fire, which burned for about 15 minutes, was extinguished by more than 20 fire brigade personnel using 2 fire engines and 1 water truck, and one house was destroyed.

Due to the fire, 56-year-old U Nyunt Hlaing has been charged under Section 285 of the Penal Code at the Dagon Myo (Port) City Police Station.
