According to the Ministry of Electricity, a solar power system capable of generating about 14 megawatts of power will be implemented in stages within the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. In Thilawa Special Economic Zone, three (3) factories have installed solar systems and are producing and using about 2 megawatts of electricity. According to the research of the zone companies, up to (14) megawatts of electricity can be produced by installing solar systems.
In addition, the Myanmar-Japan Thilawa Development Company MJTD said that after installing the solar system, when the power generation capacity of the solar system is more than the load being used, it will transmit and distribute power to other factories in the special economic zone through the power line of the Ministry of Electricity. Thilawa Special Economic Zone has 665.275 hectares and 114 companies from 21 countries have invested in an area of nearly 1,650 acres.
