Suzuki Myanmar has suspended its manufacturing due to the unstable exchange rate that currently occurred in the country and low demands in the market, and has not set a date for the production yet, staff from the Suzuki showroom said.

It is sure that the auto showroom will not be closed down. Currently, Suzuki Myanmar has suspended manufacturing due to the condition of exchange rate. They will not close down but usually tell us information about whether they will keep production or not in the meeting. We can know detailed information at that time, he added.
The market demand is low as there are largest numbers of Ertiga, Ciaz and Swift models of Suzuki in the buying and selling market. In addition, Suzuki Carry truck, are competing with other China-made cars.
A veteran dealer said: “If Suzuki raises its auto prices, its customers will buy other brands. As the prices of Ciaz and Hyundai Accent are not far, people prefer to buy Accent. As Ertiga is a multi-purpose vehicle with standard three-row seating, it may be still popular in the market.”
Suzuki Myanmar Motor manufactured Suzuki brand vehicles with Semi Knocked Down (SKD) system since 2013 and moved to Thilawa Special Economic Zone in 2018.
