The Upper Myanmar Patriotic Myanmar Sangha Union (Mandalay), on 14 October took to the streets in Mandalay to condemn the attack on pilgrims.
About 50 members of Sangha led by Chairman of the Upper Myanmar Patriotic Myanmar Sangha Union (Mandalay) Sayadaw Ashin Eaindavira (Hlegu) and about 100 Tatmadaw lovers under the leadership of U Chit Ko Ko staged the demonstration in the precinct of the Maha Muni Pagoda in Kyunloneshaung Ward, Chanmyathazi Township in Mandalay Region from 9 am to 9.30 am on 14 October, denouncing the attack on pilgrims, according to a local.
A vendor at the staircase of the pagoda said, “I saw about 10 busloads of people with religious flags and placards arrive at the pagoda. They were protesting against the attack on pilgrims at the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda recently. They were chanting slogans such as “Say no to the KNU/KNlA” and “Say no to the CRPH, the NUG and the PDF.”
The protestors left the site by holding placards saying, “Denounce the brutal attacks on pilgrims committed without provocation by KNLA Brigade (1) and NUG- and CRPH-proxy terrorists so-called PDF with heavy weapons and small arms,” and “Condemn the terrorist attack of the KNLA, the CRPH, the NUG and the PDG,” and chanting the similar slogans, according to the local resident.
