The 72nd Meeting of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force convened at the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) on March 20.
In the meeting, Ambassador Aung Myo Myint, the Permanent Representative of Myanmar to ASEAN, as Chair of the Task Force, said that the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) has been implemented for more than two decades to narrow the development gap between ASEAN member countries. He said that the IAI program plays an important role in the establishment of the ASEAN Community, so the development gap between the member countries will be improved through this program.
Then, developments in the implementation of IAI Work Plan IV (2021-2025), the work projects that are being implemented from the previous Work Plan III, the 16 new projects that have been approved for support from Singapore, Germany, Australia, China, Japan, and India in the current work plan (Work Plan IV) confirmed by the members of the IAI Task Force.
The meeting further exchanged views on the progress of the Priority Economic Deliverable (PED) on Reframing Strategies for Narrowing the Development Gap, it is reported.
