According to the Mandalay City Municipal Development Committee, applications for the construction of water-playing, entertainment, and studitha pavilions can be made on a first-come-first-served basis, without the need to pay any tax.
This year’s Mandalay Great Thingyan Festival will be held around the moat, in the city, and on the waterfront, including Walking Thingyan, Water-Playing, entertainment, and Studitha pavilions. Applications, accompanied by recommendation letters from respective township and district administration bodies, must be submitted to the Municipal Development Committee of Mandalay City by 10 April at the latest.
Mandalay’s Maha Thingyan Festival will be held on the South side of Moat (from 26th Street, 66th Street to 78th Street), including a walking Thingyan Festival and large entertainment pavilions, the East of the Moat (from 66th Street, 19th Street to 26th Street) water-throwing and large entertainment pavilions, the West of the moat (from 80th Street, 26th Street to 12th Street) water-throwing and large entertainment pavilions, the west side of the moat (80th Street and 12th Street), for the revelers to enjoy the festival with water pumps.
