13 March 2024
After the promulgation of the conscription law, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and the National Democratic Party (NLD) issued a joint statement to oppose this kind of military recruitment. As a public movement, only 5,583 people have signed against it in four days, and there are very few people who have signed against it.
Although the collective signing began on March 10, 2024, there were fewer signatories to the public movement, and four days later, less than 5,600 have been signed.
Myanmar is a country with a large number of internet users, and according to Datareportal’s 2023 statistics, there are 23.9 million internet users and 13 million people of military age, while the NLD and NUCC’s anti-conscription public campaign has hardly any signatories.
