Japan has decided to provide a total of 37 million dollars in humanitarian aid to Myanmar. Japan Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko announced at a press conference held on Friday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that three years after Myanmar’s political problems, the humanitarian situation in Myanmar continues to deteriorate.
The Japanese government plans to assist through international organizations, including the World Food Program and the UN Children’s Fund, as well as non-government organizations.
Assistance will include food and medicine distribution, medical services, as well as improved nutrition for pregnant women and infants. He also said that Japan will continue to stand by the Burmese people while looking carefully at the needs of those facing difficulties.
