U Nyan Tun, Union Minister of the Ministry of Electricity, said that the annual increase in electricity consumption is 9% and above, and the nation’s electricity demand will be met only if the annual electricity generation can be increased by about 500 megawatts.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister stressed that as private entrepreneurs should openly present their needs and difficulties so that they can coordinate, which implement projects to meet the needs of the state and the people. In addition, he also urged private companies to cooperate with the government to build solar power plants and improve the power generation needed by the state.
In the current 2024 national power system, hydropower accounted for 47.6% of the electricity generation mix, while solar energy (Solar and RE) followed with 1.7% and thermal energy (Gas+Coal) with 50.7% respectively, it is reported.
