In February 2024, 36,555 visitors were recorded at Ngwetaung Beach in Hainggyikyun, Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region. This figure represents a notable rise compared to the previous month.
The beach’s proximity to the Myat Mawtinsun Pagoda attracts both domestic and foreign visitors, making it a popular destination year-round. Most visitors in February came from Yangon Region and Nay Pyi Taw.
“The beach welcomed around 1,000 more visitors in February than in January. As the summer holidays have commenced and the Myat Mawtinsun Pagoda festival approaches, we anticipate a further increase in the number of visitors over the coming months”, according to Daw Ni Ni Mar, Executive Officer of the Myanmar Tourism Federation (Ngwetaung Beach).
At the beach can rent bicycle, motorboat and horses, as well as enjoy local food and souvenirs.
