According to the Yangon Region Gold Entrepreneurs Association (YGEA), the local gold price is above K3.9 mln per tical after rumors of a 20,000 kyat banknote emerged.
However, YGEA chairman U Myo Myint said that the rumors about the 20,000 kyats banknote, which are controlled by the Central Bank of Myanmar and continuously sold to the market, have calmed down and the local gold price has decreased below K3.9 mln per tical.
