The Myanmar Embassy in Saudi Arabia has issued an announcement on the true story of Ma Nwe Nwe Lwin, who died a few days ago in Salalah, Oman.
According to the embassy, opinions and comments circulating on social networks are at odds with the actual incident.
Since her death on 15 February, Myanmar Embassy has obtained information from her house owner, accident scene photos, medical records from the hospital, the police homicide report and death certificate and found that she died as a result of a car accident, it stated.
Embassy representatives sent her photos and documents as well as offered consolation to the bereaved family. When the embassy inquired about repatriating her body, her father replied that they wanted to cremate her body in Oman rather than repatriate it.
Therefore, the embassy informed them in advance to help prevent the family from losing their rights during the funeral. After the embassy contacted a friend in the Myanmar community in Salalah, a documentary video was taken at her funeral on 20 February and sent to her bereaved family and the embassy.
In addition to some of her family and officials, four Myanmar nationals attended the funeral. When asked if they wanted to take her urn back to Myanmar, her parents and daughter replied that they only wanted it to float in the water as appropriate, and so the ashes were floated on the beach in Salalah on the evening of 21 February, in accordance with the deceased’s family wishes.
It said the bereaved family thanked the embassy for helping them through their daughter’s accident, cremation, and other funeral arrangements.
