To provide drinking water to the townships on the other side of the Yangon River where drinking water is scarce, a 0.5 meter (one and a half foot) diameter drinking water pipeline is being laid through the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (DALA) River Bridge, according to the Ministry of Construction.
On February 17, Union Minister U Myo Thant visited the Yangon City Municipal Development Committee to inspect the conditions of the construction of the 0.5 meter (one and a half foot) drinking water pipeline and the land to be built on the Dala side of the Toll Plaza with the Yangon City Municipal Development Committee.
Townships (on the other side of the Yangon River) such as Dala and Seikkyi Kanaungto, in which only water from the lake is used for drinking water because only salt water is produced when drilling wells, and drinking water shortages often occur during the summer.
Therefore, in the construction of the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (DALA) bridge, the construction of the Gyo Phyu pipelines is being included in order to provide drinking water to the townships on the other side of the Yangon River.
