As Bayern Munich competing with Liverpool to sign Xabi Alonso, Thomas Tuchel is almost certain to be sacked. Bayern Munich have fallen five points adrift at the top of the table after losing to Bayer Leverkusen last week. The 11-year-long streak of winning the Bundesliga title is about to end.
They also look set to face a trophy-less season after losing 1-0 to Lazio in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.
The former Chelsea coach arrived at Bayern Munich 18 months ago and his contract expires in 2025. However, according to The Times, Thomas Tuchel is almost certain to lose his position as Bayern coach.
Bayern Munich will appoint former coach Hans Flick as interim coach after Thomas Tuchel was sacked. But they want to appoint Bundesliga rivals Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso as their permanent coach. Xabi Alonso is also famous for coaching positions at Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid. He played for Bayern Munich from 2014 to 2017.
