The Thailand’s Rama IX Suspension Bridge, which crosses the Kyauk Phraya River, hosted an official wedding ceremony for 111 couples on February 14.
After the opening of the festival called Luck Lock Love on the bridge by the Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand, Sarachat Law Phulsuk, the invited public attended the festivities on the bridge.
At the festival, 111 couples were married on the bridge, in honor of the 111th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand’s Ministry of Transport. Couples will also have the chance to win diamond jewelry worth over 200,000 baht, which will be awarded by Jubilee Diamond, an online diamond trading company in Thailand.
Sarah Chatt said that walking hand in hand on the new bridge for newly married couples would be like walking towards a better future. The suspension bridge is the last of the big bridges built across Kyauk Phraya city. It is 42 meters wide and will be opened to the public next July. It is said that it will be officially opened in the middle of 2025.
The Luck Lock Love festival will be held from 4 pm to 10 pm every day until the evening of February 18. After that, the festival will be temporarily stopped and will be held from February 23rd to 25th.
