Jordan beat two-time champions South Korea 2-0 to advance to the Asian Cup final for the first time. After Jordan took the lead in the 53rd minute of the second half through Yazan Al Naimat’s goal, in the 66th minute Suleiman Eltamari scored the second goal to ensure the win with a beautiful solo goal. Jordan is the team that has never made it past the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup. They are also participating in the final of the Asian Cup for the first time. They will face Qatar (or Iran) in the Asian Cup final on Saturday.
In this match, the South Korean defense, which did not participate due to the suspension of Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae, struggled against Jordan, who played high-pressing. Son Heung-min found the back of the net, but the South Koreans had mistimed his run into the box and the goal was quickly ruled out for offside.
After that, in the 29th minute, South Korea won a penalty, but it was rejected by VAR. South Korea had made a habit of scoring late goals in the tournament but there was no comeback this time as Jordan kept them at bay to book their place in the final. Due to this defeat, the pressure is high for the German legend Klinsmann, who has been in charge of South Korea since about a year ago.
