In the next financial year, rice will be produced and exported as a value-added product to ensure self-sufficiency in domestic consumption, the president of the Myanmar Rice Federation said

In the coming fiscal year 2024-2025, Plans are being made to produce and export rice noodles and rice flour as value-added products than regular rice, and only the types of rice and broken rice will be exported as raw rice, according to a press conference held today by the Myanmar Rice Federation.
Myanmar produces between 12 million to 14 million tons of rice annually, and as domestic consumption is around 10 million tons of rice, only around 3 million tons of rice can be exported every year.
In the current fiscal year 2023-2024, rice exports decreased by 500,000 tons, but there was no decrease in income, and despite the increase in tons of rice exported in the previous fiscal year, the monthly income was only around 60 million dollars.
