According to U Bo Thinn, a member of the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees, the Myanmar traditional Htamane festival and Htamane-making competition will take place at the Shwedagon Pagoda on 23 February.
Township teams in the Yangon region and religious associations of the Shwedagon Pagoda will participate in the 2024 Shwedagon Pagoda Htamane Festival as well as the ceremony of distributing Htamane to pilgrims from around the region.
” We plan to hold the Htamane festival and an Htamane-making contest at Shwedagon Pagoda as part of the Htamane festival.
The Htamane Festival allows individuals to donate K65,000 for a pan of Htamane. We will donate Htamane to monasteries near Shwedagon Pagoda and to devotees. A donation center has been opened by the Board of Trustees for the Htamane festival. Moreover, donors can donate fruits, snacks, candles, and incense sticks on the evening of 23 February at the Chanthagyi prayer hall,” said U Bo Thinn.
