The NCA was signed before the diplomats from China, India, Japan, the UN, and local witnesses and it was approved by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, that if the ethnic armed groups were going to move towards a multi-party democratic system, they needed to go via the NCA peace talks, the SAC chairman said as stated above at the meeting (1/20224) of the SAC on 1st January 2024.
The Senior General said that since our country is on the way to a multi-party democratic system, there should be no more differences of opinion. To reach the path of peace and democracy, they can demand their aspirations at the Hluttaw via the peace talks if they require their aspiration by holding arms. Some groups from NCA signatory KNU and KIA, SSPP/SSA, and KNPP, among other 11 non-signatory organizations, supported PDF terrorists to commit terrorism across the nation.
The NCA was signed by the KNU, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), KNU/KNLA Peace Council, the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), New Mon State Party (NMSP), Lahu Democratic Union(LDU) and the Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), participated in the NCA (8) anniversary ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw, on 1st January 2024.
