Yesterday was the 3rd day of the 5th liver transplant operation at the special care center of the No. 1 Defence Services General Hospital (1,000 beds) in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Region, the procedures continued.
Patient U Nyan Htun underwent a liver transplant from his wife, Daw Sandar Aung, during the operation. Surgeons harvested the liver from the donor at 8:30 am and transplanted it into the patient at 4 pm, completing the entire procedure in approximately 11 hours.
Both the patient and the donor are reportedly in good health. Professors, medical experts, and nurses are providing attentive care for them in the intensive care unit(ICU).
During the operation, Tatmadaw officials offered comfort and support to the patients. It is also reported that the two donors and two patients from the previous day are doing well.
