The Kyaiktiyo Pagoda festival will be held for 7 months from 9 October 2022(full moon day of Thadingyut, 1384 ME) to 3 May 2023 (full moon day of Kason, 1385 ME) in Kyaikto Township of Mon State.
The pagoda board of trustees has arranged to stay a free at Pyae Sone Dhamma Yone and 9000 candle lights Dhamma Yone for pilgrims and hotels and lodges are opened along the period of the Buddha Pujaniya festival.
Moreover, restaurants and souvenir shops will be opened not only at Kinpun base camp but also at the platform of pagoda for the convenience of visitors in accordance with the rules issued by the authorities. They have prepared to become restaurants that met the standards of hygiene.
The Buddha Pujaniya festival could not held in 2019-2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as the pagoda festival was held in 2021-2022, there were over 400,000 pilgrims.
At the pagoda festival this year, officials will allow pilgrims to go to the square of pagoda only after performing the measuring of body temperatures and contributing free masks under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and. The public health department (branch) on square of the pagoda will give treatments anyone who needs aids on health.
