It is reported that six people were injured after a Myanmar Army plane crashed today (January 23) at Lanpur Airport in the Indian state of Mizoram. The Director General of Police, Mizoram, said that 14 people, including the pilot, were on board the plane that crashed, and the injured were taken to Lanpur Hospital.
According to initial reports, the plane was arriving to pick up Myanmar military personnel who had recently retreated into India and crashed after skidding off the runway at Langpu airport, according to Indian-based news reports.
A total of 276 Myanmar military personnel retreated to Mizoram last week, and 184 of them were repatriated on Monday, an official said. It is also reported that the Myanmar Air Force is transporting Myanmar military personnel from Lanpu Airport near Aizawl to Sittwe in the neighboring state of Rakhine State, and the remaining 92 military personnel are scheduled to be repatriated today.
