It is estimated to start sending MOU workers to Thailand from Myanmar via Yangon-Don Mueang Airport in February.
The Department of Labour issued a statement on 17 January after the director-level video conferencing meeting between Thailand and Myanmar on 3 January 2024 made an agreement to use Yangon and Don Mueang airports when they dispatch workers under MOU.
When sending workers through the airport, workers need to apply for a visa at the Thai embassy in Myanmar, the DoL stated in a statement.
Moreover, agencies can also send them by private or charter airlines. If workers were sent by private means, it would not be necessary to notify the air traffic control department, but if they were sent by charter, it would be notified to Thailand’s air traffic control department. For agencies that want to send by airlines, they must submit their permission to the Department at least 10 days in advance.
