According to the Myanmar Police information, a monk was shot in the head by five PDF terrorists. At 7:30 a.m. on January 16, in Khatakham village, Sankou Township, Mandalay division, the security forces went to investigate after receiving the news that a monk had been shot dead.
A 49-year-old monk living at the Mahabodhi Monastery in the village was shot dead by five terrorists who arrived in a boat.
